Garmin recently released Public Beta Version 21.16 for its Forerunner 165, 255, 265, 955, and 965 smartwatches, bringing several key fixes and maintaining previously introduced features. This update arrives soon after version 21.14 and focuses on resolving specific software bugs to enhance functionality.
Key issues addressed include problems with custom workouts, heart rate data showing up in the wrong place, inaccurate sleep tracking, and accent color inconsistencies in the Other Activities feature. Additionally, features like the Meditation activity and Moon Phase glance, first introduced in the previous update, remain accessible in this release.
One of the primary improvements in version 21.16 is the fix for custom workout functionality across various activity types, making it more reliable for users. Garmin also resolved an issue where heart rate information was being misfiled in the glance folder, ensuring data appears where expected.
Sleep tracking has been improved with adjustments to correct prior inaccuracies, and a fix for the Other Activities color setting ensures users’ preferred accent colors are properly saved, providing a consistent display experience.
The rollout for this update is phased, meaning it will gradually reach all Forerunner users over time, though no precise schedule has been given. Those eager to access the update sooner can trigger the update by selecting Settings, going to System, and checking for Software Updates in their device’s main menu. By staging the release, Garmin can monitor performance and address any additional issues before a full rollout, offering a smoother update process.
To ensure full functionality, Garmin advises users to sync their devices over Wi-Fi or with Garmin Express, especially for downloading the Meditation activity audio files. This syncing recommendation is intended to help users access the latest content without connectivity issues. With each new beta release, Garmin continues to fine-tune the Forerunner line, reinforcing its commitment to optimizing user experience with enhanced fitness and wellness tools.
