The Chinese Ministry of Commerce announced that Commerce Minister Wang Wentao held meetings with leaders from Apple and SK Hynix Inc on Saturday, ahead of significant business conferences scheduled for the coming week.

During Friday’s meetings with Apple CEO Tim Cook and Hynix President Kwak Noh-Jung, Wang engaged in discussions regarding the development of these tech companies in China, as per the ministry’s statement.

Apple CEO Tim Cook made a visit to Shanghai, where he inaugurated Apple’s latest store on Thursday, amidst challenges posed by declining iPhone sales in China and heightened competition from local competitors like Huawei.

Wang conveyed to Cook that economic and trade cooperation between China and the U.S. serves as a stabilizing factor for bilateral relations.

He further expressed China’s willingness to collaborate with the United States in establishing a fair, stable, and predictable environment for business cooperation between the two nations, as per the ministry’s statement.

In addition, the Chinese diplomat and Kwak discussed collaboration in the semiconductor industry chain between China and South Korea, the ministry noted.
