PS 5 Prices Hiked Everywhere But Not In US

PS 5 Prices Hiked Everywhere But Not In US

Sony is raising the price of the PS5 console across the board,

with the US being the only significant market to maintain the current price.

The price of the PS5 will rise to varying degrees in Europe, Japan, China, Australia, Canada, Mexico, and the United Kingdom.

whereas the US retains its $500 pricing point, and $400 for the Digital Edition.

Except in Japan, the price rise amounts to between $35 and $50, depending on the market,

and is effective as of this morning.

Jim Ryan, president of Sony Interactive Entertainment, wrote on the PlayStation Blog to explain why the increase was required.

"high global inflation rates, as well as adverse currency trends, impacting consumers and creating pressure on many industries."

He continues by saying that since the console is still very difficult to find in stock anywhere, Sony's top goal is to keep trying to expand supply.
