The official website for the animated adaptation of the manga written by Takumi Fukui and Shinya Umemura, and illustrated by Ajichika, Shuumatsu no Valkyrie, published the third promotional video for the project. The press release confirmed that the series will premiere globally on Netflix on June 17. High above the kingdom of man, the gods of the world came together to decide on a single issue: the continuity of humanity’s existence. Under the leadership of Zeus, the deities of Ancient Greece, Norse mythology, and Hinduism, among others, call an assembly every thousand years to decide the fate of humanity. Due to the relentless abuse of each other and the planet, this time the gods voted unanimously in favor of the end of the human race.

But before the deadline expires, Brunhild, one of the 13 demigod Valkyries, comes up with an alternative proposal: instead of annihilating humanity in an anti-climatic way, why not give them a chance to fight and represent Ragnarok, a one-on-one confrontation between man and god? Stimulated by the audacity of the challenge, the divine council quickly accepts, fully confident that this competition will show the absolute power of the gods. To have a chance against the supreme beings, Brunhild will need to bring together the greatest characters in history, otherwise, the death sentence will sound to humanity.

Masao Okubo (Episodes 3 through 9 of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood) is directing the anime at Graphinica Studios (Hellsing Ultimate, Juuni Taisen). Kazuyuki Fudeyasu (Majo no Tabitabi) is in charge of writing and supervising the scripts. Masaki Saito is responsible for the character design. Yasuharu Takanashi (Naruto: Shippuden) is in charge of composing the soundtrack. MAXIMUM THE HORMONE will present the opening song entitled “ KAMIGAMI ”.

Fukui, Umemura, and Ajichika began publishing the manga through the magazine Monthly Comic Zenon publisher Tokuma Shoten in November 2017. A manga spin-off titled Shuumatsu in Valkyrie: Lu Bu Housen Hishouden, written and illustrated by Takeo Ono is published in the same magazine since October 2019, with three volumes compiled so far.
