The TinyPod is a new accessory designed to transform the Apple Watch into a modernized version of the iPod, appealing to those nostalgic for the iconic portable music device that Apple discontinued in May 2022 after more than two decades. By using the Apple Watch as its display, the TinyPod enclosure offers a design reminiscent of the original iPod, though with rounded corners and a more simplified look.
One of the key selling points of the TinyPod is its ability to provide many essential features of an iPhone, particularly for users of the cellular Apple Watch, making it a fun and functional way to leave the iPhone at home. The design maintains access to the health-related features of the Apple Watch by keeping the rear sensor exposed, which also allows for battery charging.
Despite not having direct access to the Apple Watch’s Digital Crown, users can still control it through a scroll wheel on the front of the TinyPod. This scroll wheel mechanically rotates the Digital Crown, providing a tactile way to interact with the Apple Watch’s interface based on finger or thumb movements.
For those preferring a simpler design, the TinyPod Lite offers a minimalist case without a scroll wheel, allowing side access to the Apple Watch so users can manually turn the Digital Crown.
Available in various sizes to fit different Apple Watch models, the main version of TinyPod with the scroll wheel is priced at $79.99 for smaller sizes and $89.99 for larger ones, while the Lite version costs $29.99 and $39.99, respectively. Most variants are expected to ship in the summer, with some arriving in the fall.
