Apple is gearing up for a significant update to its Apple Watch lineup as the device approaches its tenth anniversary. According to Bloomberg, the upcoming Series 10 models will feature larger displays and thinner designs, taking cues from the Apple Watch Ultra. These enhancements aim to provide users with more screen real estate without compromising on the watch’s sleek profile.
In addition to the physical changes, the Series 10 watches are expected to debut with a new chip that could pave the way for future artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities. Apple recently revealed its plans for generative AI, which it hopes will add compelling new features to its products, potentially influencing consumer purchasing decisions.
Wall Street has responded positively to Apple’s AI ambitions. Analysts such as Dan Ives from Wedbush Securities view the integration of AI into the iPhone 16 and other devices as a significant opportunity for Apple, potentially boosting its stock value by introducing new monetization avenues through services and hardware enhancements.
Financially, Apple remains a powerhouse, with its stock trading at over $226 per share as of the latest update, reflecting a 22% increase this year and valuing the company at approximately $3.47 trillion. This positions Apple just shy of Microsoft in the ongoing competition for the title of the world’s most valuable company.
At the recent Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2024, the company also announced updates to its watchOS software. The new watchOS 11 focuses on enhancing fitness and health features, leveraging machine learning to improve workout tracking and optimize user experience by curating personalized photo displays.
Historically, Apple has used milestone anniversaries of its products to introduce significant updates, as seen with the iPhone X marking the smartphone’s tenth anniversary. However, specific release details for the revamped Series 10 Apple Watches have not yet been disclosed by the company.
CEO Tim Cook initially introduced the Apple Watch in September 2014, highlighting it as a deeply personal product. As Apple continues to innovate and expand its product offerings, anticipation is high for how the Series 10 Apple Watch will redefine smartwatch capabilities and user experiences in its next evolution.
