Uber to introduce a slew of new product updates at its annual Go-Get showcase in New York City on Wednesday, all geared towards helping customers economize on rides and food.
These updates underscore Uber’s ongoing efforts to bolster growth and demand in its mobility and delivery divisions, potentially attracting more users to its platform.
Here’s a rundown of the key offerings the company introduced:
For those seeking a budget-friendly way to reach the airport, work, or live events like sports games and concerts, Uber now offers seats on an Uber Shuttle. Partnering with local shuttle services, Uber ensures users have commercially licensed drivers, with the ability to tip and rate them directly through the app.
Shuttles accommodate between 14 to 55 seats, allowing users to reserve up to five seats up to seven days in advance, receiving a QR code ticket.
Users can track their shuttle’s location within 25 minutes of departure, with fares significantly lower than UberX and unaffected by surge pricing. Initially launching at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium and select concert venues in Chicago, Pittsburgh, and Charlotte, N.C., Uber plans to expand this offering.
Launching this summer, caregivers can add elderly family members to their profiles, facilitating booking rides and ordering essentials on their behalf.
The feature also enables three-way chats between drivers, riders, and caregivers. Uber Caregiver initially supports Medicaid recipients, customers aged 65 and older with Medicare Advantage, and those with employer-provided commercial insurance.
Starting Wednesday, Uber Eats users can order Costco products on-demand in select U.S. locations, regardless of membership status. Members enjoy 15% to 20% savings compared to non-members. Costco members can link their membership numbers to receive further discounts, including 20% off Uber One subscriptions.
A new feature allows users to schedule shared rides in advance, saving around 25% compared to standard UberX fares. Initially launching in cities with high return-to-office rates, such as New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, and San Diego, with more cities to follow.
Uber One membership, usually priced at $9.99 per month, is now offered to students at $4.99 per month. Students also gain access to exclusive deals, including daily discounts at Taco Bell, Domino’s, and Starbucks. Launching in the U.S. in May, with plans for expansion to Canada, New Zealand, Australia, Japan, and France.
Introducing “Lists” on Uber Eats, allowing users to compile and share curated lists of restaurants and preferred spots. Examples include “date night desserts” and “toddler-approved dinners,” enhancing the user experience on the platform.
