Fortnite is launching a nostalgic new season called “The Remix: Chapter 2,” which merges its gaming past with an expanded focus on music. Following a live and in-game concert featuring Snoop Dogg and Ice Spice at Times Square, this season will take players on a journey back to the elements of Chapter 2, blending in weekly music-themed updates. This move continues Epic’s trend of merging real-world music events with Fortnite, elevating the game beyond a traditional battle royale experience.
The season revisits characters, locations, and gameplay from Chapter 2, a notable period that began in 2019 when Fortnite introduced a new map for the first time. Each week, Epic will introduce elements inspired by a different artist, starting with Snoop Dogg and followed by Eminem, Ice Spice, and Juice WRLD. This weekly format aims to keep the season fresh, encouraging players to log in consistently to see the latest musical collaborations and in-game changes.
Running from November 2 to November 30, the Remix season will also feature a “finale” event to wrap up the experience. Players can look forward to new cosmetics, including Nike shoes for their characters, a unique addition that highlights Epic’s partnerships with major brands. This reflects Fortnite’s trend of incorporating real-world fashion into its digital world, creating an appeal that extends beyond traditional gaming audiences.
This isn’t Fortnite’s first attempt at using nostalgia or music to draw in players. Last year’s “Fortnite OG” season aimed to reengage players by revisiting the game’s early days, and Fortnite has previously hosted high-profile virtual concerts with artists like Travis Scott and Ariana Grande. Additionally, Fortnite introduced a rhythm-based experience called Fortnite Festival, bringing stars like Billie Eilish into the game and cementing music as a core feature of the Fortnite universe.
Epic’s recent efforts also show a focus on making Fortnite a broader platform with flexible content. From streamlining battle passes across its various modes to working with brands like Hasbro, ESPN, and even political campaigns, Fortnite has become a versatile space for virtual events. The Remix season is a continuation of this approach, blending nostalgia, music, and brand collaborations to keep players engaged in new ways.
