Samsung has released the August 2024 security update for its Galaxy S20 FE in the USA. This update, designed to enhance the device’s security, is the only type of update the Galaxy S20 FE will receive after being on the market for four years. It addresses 50 different vulnerabilities affecting Android and Samsung devices, including a critical flaw discovered recently in Android systems.
For users in the USA, the update is available for both unlocked Galaxy S20 FE units and those on Verizon’s network. The update can be identified by the build numbers G781U1UESIGXG1 for unlocked devices and G781VSQSGHXG1 for Verizon users.
It is being distributed via over-the-air updates, but users also have the option to download and install the firmware manually from the SamMobile firmware library using a Windows PC and USB cable.
The rollout of this security update is expected to extend to other carriers in the US and eventually to other regions worldwide. Both the 5G and LTE variants of the Galaxy S20 FE are included in this update, and similar updates might soon be available for the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, and Galaxy S20 Ultra.
This update underscores Samsung’s ongoing commitment to device security, ensuring that even older models like the Galaxy S20 FE continue to receive important security patches to protect users from vulnerabilities.
