The rollout of Samsung’s One UI 7 beta, initially scheduled for July 29, 2024, has been delayed. Reliable sources indicate that the delay is due to the fact that the update is based on Android 15 and the company is still working on the current One UI 6.1.1 update for the Galaxy S24 series.
This postponement was highlighted in a post on X by SamMobile, which mentioned that the One UI 7 beta would not be released as planned.
Max Jambor and other industry insiders have confirmed this delay, attributing it to ongoing issues with the stability of One UI 7. They suggest that Samsung’s decision to delay the beta release is partly because the company needs to address these stability concerns and ensure a smoother transition. Additionally, Samsung is focusing on rolling out the One UI 6.1.1 update before shifting its attention to the new beta.
Samsung’s One UI 6.1.1, which began rolling out earlier this month, includes enhanced AI features for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6, along with updates designed to improve productivity and media capabilities across its device lineup. This update is a key step before the company can move forward with the One UI 7 beta.
Despite the delay, Samsung remains ahead of its previous development schedule. For context, the beta for One UI 6 was released on August 11 of the previous year. This suggests that the One UI 7 beta might also be pushed back to a similar timeframe, possibly aligning with the annual update cycle.
When it does launch, One UI 7 is expected to introduce significant changes, including a redesigned camera interface with key controls moved to the lower part of the screen for better accessibility. Additionally, the new update will feature a rounded design aesthetic, smoother animations, and a revamped notification panel with separate sections for notifications and quick settings.
