Apple’s introduction of its new Apple Intelligence may not be included in the initial public release of iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 in September. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the company plans to roll out this feature with iOS 18.1 and iPadOS 18.1 in October. Despite this delay, beta versions featuring some AI capabilities will be available to developers as early as this week.
The delay is somewhat disappointing, especially for those who have tested the early beta of iOS 18 and found that many of the most anticipated features rely heavily on Apple Intelligence. This means that users will have to wait a bit longer to fully experience these enhancements. The AI-powered Siri, for instance, is one of the key features expected to arrive later.
Meanwhile, Samsung has introduced a new product category that boasts a lightweight and comfortable design along with a rich array of health metrics and data. This new offering is notable for not requiring a subscription, which gives it an edge over existing competitors. However, despite these positive aspects, it remains somewhat pricey.
In other news, internet service providers (ISPs) are contesting a new government program aimed at providing lower-cost broadband for low-income customers. More than 30 broadband industry trade groups have expressed concerns to US Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo, stating that the proposed $30 monthly rate for high-speed internet is not feasible given the economic realities of network deployment and operation in high-cost, hard-to-reach areas.
