Sony has reportedly been working to make its PSVR2 controllers compatible with Apple’s Vision Pro VR headset. According to a Bloomberg report, the companies have reached an agreement, but the official confirmation of this deal has been delayed. Initially expected to be finalized weeks ago, the rollout has been postponed for undisclosed reasons.
The collaboration between the two tech giants has reportedly required a month of effort from Sony to ensure that the PSVR2 controllers work with the Vision Pro. At the same time, Apple has been contacting developers to inquire whether they would be willing to update their games to support these controllers. However, for this partnership to succeed, Sony must address an issue: its PSVR2 controllers are currently not available for sale separately and are only bundled with the PSVR2 headset.
Sony’s move to make the PSVR2 controllers compatible with the Apple Vision Pro is part of a broader strategy to expand the reach of its VR technology beyond PS5 owners. The company has made efforts to support PC VR players, and this compatibility is another step in making the PSVR2 a more versatile device. While Sony has not shown much interest in developing exclusive first-party VR titles, it is positioning its hardware for use on other platforms.
An official announcement regarding the compatibility of the PSVR2 with the Apple Vision Pro is expected in the near future. Despite the postponement of the rollout, both companies seem committed to this collaboration, with Apple actively seeking developer support to ensure a smooth integration of the PSVR2 controllers into the Vision Pro’s ecosystem.
