Samsung’s One UI 7.0 beta program, which launched a week ago for the Galaxy S24 series in select regions, is already progressing towards its next phase. Based on ongoing user feedback and reports, it is expected that Samsung will release the second beta build soon. This initial beta build offers an opportunity to test new features and improvements, setting the stage for what users can expect in the stable release of One UI 7.0.

One UI 7.0 introduces several enhancements, particularly in security and design. Security features have been bolstered with improved transparency policies. The beta highlights aesthetic updates, such as revamped icons compared to One UI 6.0, a redesigned Calendar icon, and customizable lock screen clock styles. Notable is the addition of a vertical app drawer, allowing users to switch between horizontal and vertical scrolling, although the beta includes a “Secured by Knox” watermark in the app drawer that Samsung plans to remove in the stable version.

Functionality improvements are a significant part of the One UI 7.0 beta. Features like Galaxy Buds controls integrated into the media player widget and a cloud-based archiving option from Android 15 enhance user convenience. Samsung Health saw minor changes, while Quick Share now supports sharing over the internet. Other notable updates include the removal of the lock screen widgets carousel, upgraded Modes and Routines, and Galaxy App Booster for improved performance. Additionally, U.S. users can now record voice calls using Call Transcripts.

Samsung has also reimagined stock widgets, introduced the Now Bar feature for easier navigation, and upgraded AR Emoji to Galaxy Avatar. In terms of photography, the default Camera app now benefits from additional zoom levels through the Camera Assistant. However, Samsung acknowledges that animations in the first beta aren’t yet up to par and plans to improve them in future builds. The beta also demonstrates how One UI 7 continues to refine quick settings toggles and other interface elements.

Despite the beta’s exciting features, Samsung’s roadmap indicates that the Galaxy S23 series likely won’t receive One UI 7.0 beta in December. With ongoing improvements and feedback shaping the final release, the current beta for the Galaxy S24 series provides a comprehensive preview of Samsung’s vision for its next-generation interface, blending enhanced functionality, refined design, and user-focused innovation.
