Samsung has announced the rollout of its One UI 6 Watch update for older Galaxy smartwatches, bringing exciting new features to these devices. The update is based on Wear OS 5 and enhances the functionality of Samsung’s Galaxy Watch lineup, including models such as the Galaxy Watch 4, 5, and 6. While the update is gradually being made available, it first arrives on the Galaxy Watch 6 before reaching other models like the Galaxy Watch FE, Galaxy Watch 5, and Galaxy Watch 4 over the coming weeks.
One UI 6 Watch introduces advanced health and fitness features, including AI-powered health tips, sleep apnea detection approved by the FDA, and the new Energy Score metric to assess recovery after physical exertion.
The Workout Routine feature allows users to create personalized exercise plans by combining multiple activity types. Additionally, the Race feature offers athletes and fitness enthusiasts a way to compare current and past performance for running and cycling activities. These improvements make the Galaxy Watch more comprehensive as a fitness tracking tool.
Beyond fitness, the update enhances customization and usability with new watch faces and improved integration with Galaxy devices. Features like AI-generated suggested replies and a more prominent double-pinch gesture enhance the overall user experience. The pinch gesture, previously an accessibility feature, now plays a larger role in the watch’s main interface, demonstrating Samsung’s commitment to making its devices more intuitive.
Although the rollout is staggered, the update promises to breathe new life into older Galaxy smartwatches by equipping them with cutting-edge features. Users can look forward to a more seamless experience and advanced tools for health, fitness, and communication as the update becomes available across the Galaxy Watch ecosystem.
