The recent release of the iPhone 16 has sparked a wave of speculation about the next generation of Apple’s iPhones, particularly the anticipated iPhone SE 4. Scheduled for 2025, this new model has not seen updates since 2022.
Insider Sonny Dickson recently shared insights about potential features and updates, raising questions about whether it will include advanced elements like the Camera Control Button and the Action Button found in the latest iPhone releases.
Dickson posted an image of the iPhone SE 4’s case over the weekend, providing valuable clues about its design. The case features a flat back panel and a noticeably larger cutout for the rear camera compared to the iPhone SE 3, which suggests that the new model might introduce a dual-camera system for the first time in this line.
Furthermore, the SE 4 is expected to adopt design traits from the iPhone 14, transitioning from Touch ID to Face ID and incorporating a notch. This design shift could also allow for the addition of an ultrawide camera.
There had been expectations that the iPhone SE 4 would incorporate the Action Button, a feature first introduced with the iPhone 15 Pro models. However, the case leak reveals only a cutout for the traditional mute switch, implying that the Action Button might not be present in this model.
Additionally, there was no sign of the new Camera Control Button, which facilitates quick photo-taking and video recording. These elements may affect user expectations, but there are still several promising features to look forward to.
In terms of specifications, the iPhone SE 4 is rumored to come equipped with 8GB of RAM and the advanced A18 chip, which would enhance its AI capabilities through Apple’s suite of “Apple Intelligence.”
Analyst Mark Gurman suggests that incorporating these AI features into the SE 4 would mark a significant step forward, especially as more budget smartphones are integrating such technologies. Additionally, the device is expected to replace its existing LCD screen with a vibrant 6.1-inch OLED display and shift from Apple’s proprietary port to USB-C.
Despite these exciting enhancements, the iPhone SE 4 may come with a higher price tag than its predecessor, which launched at $429. With the introduction of these new technologies and features, experts predict the starting price could rise to around $500.
This adjustment would still keep the SE 4 positioned as a budget-friendly option when compared to the iPhone 16, which starts at $899. As the expected release date approaches, further leaks and rumors are likely to emerge, providing more details about what Apple has planned for the iPhone SE 4.
