Samsung has begun rolling out One UI 6.1.1, which was initially spotted on devices like the Galaxy S24. The release had been briefly delayed due to the company’s efforts to manage both the public launch of this update and preparations for One UI 7, which will be based on Android 15. With One UI 7 still on hold, Samsung has moved forward with the release of One UI 6.1.1, which is built on Android 14.
The update first surfaced on Galaxy S24 devices across regions such as the US, India, and the UK. Although it started with newer models, the rollout has since expanded to cover older devices. This signals the beginning of a wider deployment of the OS, with more users expected to receive the update in the coming days.
In the US, One UI 6.1.1 is now available for several devices, including the Galaxy S23 series (S23, S23+, S23 Ultra, and S23 FE), as well as foldable phones like the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5. This expansion shows Samsung’s intent to provide the latest OS to a broad range of its flagship devices.
The update introduces several enhancements, including improved AI capabilities. Features like sketch-to-image, AI-based portrait creation, and the ability to translate text from images on websites have been added. Additionally, users can now edit voice recordings and transcripts, improving the overall functionality of Samsung’s software tools. Samsung Health has also been revamped, offering more detailed sleep tracking and the ability to customize workout routines.
Multitasking and productivity improvements are another key focus of One UI 6.1.1, particularly for foldable devices like the Galaxy Z Fold series. The update improves the multi-window experience, especially when watching videos in picture-in-picture mode. For now, the update is rolling out to unlocked, and some Verizon models are in the US, with more devices expected to follow soon.
