Recent rumors about Nintendo’s next-generation hardware continue to circulate, with new details emerging from Ruben Mercado, the CEO of video game accessories manufacturer Blade. Mercado made claims during a podcast interview with the Spanish website Vandal, hinting that Nintendo’s new system is essentially complete and ready for launch. His statements, shared via Metro, have added to the speculation surrounding the highly anticipated successor to the Nintendo Switch.
Mercado further revealed that Blade already has access to near-final versions of the hardware. He suggested that the new Nintendo console could potentially see a simultaneous global release in March or April of next year. While these details remain unofficial, they align with earlier rumors hinting at a possible 2024 launch window for Nintendo’s next-generation console.
The timing of the release, according to Mercado, could be influenced by Nintendo’s financial performance this year. If the company’s sales fall short of expectations, the new console might launch as early as March 2024. However, if Nintendo meets or exceeds its financial goals, the release could be pushed to April 2025, coinciding with the beginning of the new fiscal year.
In addition to discussing the launch window, Mercado addressed other rumors, including potential updates to the Joy-Con controllers. He mentioned that the new system could feature Joy-Cons with a magnetic locking mechanism to ensure they remain securely attached to the console. However, Blade’s existing line of accessories, such as analog stick covers, might not be compatible with the new system, suggesting some hardware changes in the controller design.
Despite these intriguing details, it’s important to approach them with caution. Mercado’s claims have not been confirmed by Nintendo, and the company has yet to officially announce its Switch successor. Rumors earlier in the year had indicated that the new system would not launch during this financial year, which ends in March 2025. Until Nintendo provides an official statement, these details remain speculative.
