The Pixel 9 Pro Fold was spotted in public less than two weeks before its official launch at the Made by Google event on August 13. The device was seen in use at a Starbucks in Taiwan. Although it was glimpsed by the public, there was little information revealed about the Pixel 9 Pro Fold from this sighting.
The Pixel 9 Pro Fold was encased in a snugly fitted case and propped up on a stand, suggesting it was being carefully used or displayed. A photo of this sighting was posted on a private Facebook group, but details about the person who took the photo or the user of the device remain unknown.
The device inside the case had a “G” logo on the back, indicating it might be an official Google case. The phone itself appeared to be in Obsidian black, one of the two expected color options for the foldable, the other being Porcelain. Interestingly, the case seemed to be in the Porcelain color, providing a contrast to the device’s color.
Visible details from the image include the double-decker camera module, a tall cover display with a hole-punch selfie camera, and side buttons. However, no additional information could be gleaned from this sighting.
Previous leaks have provided some insights, suggesting the Pixel 9 Pro Fold will feature thinner inner display bezels and a brighter display thanks to the Samsung M14 OLED panel. It is also expected to be thinner but heavier compared to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6.
Rumors about the pricing indicate that Google may not increase the price despite the upgrades. Additionally, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold is likely to be available in more countries than its predecessor. While Google is expected to start shipping the Pixel 9 series on August 22, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold might have a slightly delayed release.
