Garmin has released a new and somewhat confusing update for its flagship smartwatches, which is currently available through its Beta Program. This update, designated as Beta Version 18.12, is intended to address issues that could lead to device shutdowns and includes a range of other changes aimed at improving performance and user experience.
Recently, Garmin has been active in rolling out beta updates for its smartwatch lineup. The company has delivered several updates to recent Forerunner models, such as the Forerunner 165 and Forerunner 265. The latest update extends to a variety of other Garmin smartwatches, including the Enduro 2, Epix 2, Epix 2 Pro, Fenix 7, Fenix 7 Pro, Marq Gen 2, and Quatix 7.
The update, which is now at version 18.12 for all seven smartwatch models, promises several key improvements. Among these changes are ‘updated translations’ and fixes for bugs that could cause devices to shut down when using Garmin Coach or after receiving a flag measurement from an Approach Z30 smart laser range finder.
In addition to the stated changes, Beta Program participants have reported additional modifications. The update includes new firmware for several sub-components of the smartwatches, including GPS, NFC, Sensor Hub, and Wi-Fi.
