Apple has recently introduced new beta versions for its various operating systems, including iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and visionOS, alongside updates for its suite of devices such as phones, tablets, computers, watches, set-top boxes, and AR headsets. The latest beta releases aim to refine and expand the functionalities of these systems.
The key feature of iOS 18.1 is Apple Intelligence, though it has faced some issues, particularly with rendering in the new Siri interface on large Apple CarPlay displays. These issues are being addressed in ongoing updates.
Meanwhile, iOS 18, currently at beta 6, introduces improvements such as Place ID for Apple Maps, which provides a unique identifier for locations. Additionally, Wallet users may now be required to photograph their ID to enhance security and reduce fraud.
For developers working with Apple Vision Pro, visionOS 2 beta 6 is now available. This update allows for greater flexibility by increasing the maximum distance between apps and enables users to move compatible apps outside of the Compatible Apps folder. Additionally, users can now interact with the system UI using game controllers, which adds a new dimension to the user experience.
The macOS Sequoia 15 beta 6 introduces several fixes and a notable improvement for those with limited storage. The App Store now requires only the size of the app plus a small buffer of free space, rather than double the app’s size, for initial downloads and installations. A stable release of iOS 18 is anticipated in the fall, with iOS 18.1 expected to follow shortly thereafter.
