The PlayStation VR2 PC Adapter, which will enable the use of the PSVR2 headset with a PC, is now listed on Steam ahead of its official launch. Scheduled for release on August 7 at a price of $60, the adapter’s Steam page provides a preview of the setup process.
This includes screenshots that demonstrate how to pair the PSVR2 controllers, update the firmware, and configure the playspace boundary for an optimal VR experience.
The adapter itself features a USB-C connection for the headset and includes a fixed USB-A cable for connecting to the PC. It also has a DisplayPort for the graphics card and an additional port that appears to be for power. Notably, the adapter does not come with a DisplayPort cable, which users will need to supply separately. Additionally, Bluetooth is required for pairing the PSVR 2 Sense controllers with the PC.
In terms of hardware compatibility, the adapter supports NVIDIA GTX 1650 / AMD RX 5500XT graphics cards or newer models. However, for better performance, Sony recommends using at least an RTX 3060 or RX 6600XT. Performance may vary significantly depending on the specific games being played on the PC.
The PlayStation VR2 PC app on Steam will include a SteamVR driver, allowing integration with SteamVR. This will enable users to adjust various settings, such as brightness and the playspace boundary, through the SteamVR dashboard. However, certain features of the PSVR2, such as eye tracking, HDR, headset rumble, adaptive triggers, and precision haptics, will not be available on PC.
The PSVR2 PC Adapter can now be wishlisted on Steam and will be available for download starting August 6, just a day before the official adapter launch. This early availability allows users to prepare for its release and get a head start on integrating their PSVR2 headset with their PC gaming setup.
