Google is gearing up for the launch of its Pixel 9 series, which is set to be officially revealed in less than a month. Recent leaks have provided a closer look at the upcoming Pixel 9 Pro XL, highlighting some notable updates. The device is expected to come with significant upgrades, including a new Samsung modem and increased memory capacity.
Earlier this year, information emerged about the Pixel 9 Pro series, revealing that the device would feature 128GB of storage and an upgraded 16GB of RAM. This would mark a substantial increase from the previous maximum of 12GB seen in earlier Pixel models. Additionally, it was reported that the Pixel 9 Pro would be equipped with the Exynos 5400 modem, which Samsung had introduced in April.
Recent leaks have confirmed these details, showing an early version of the Pixel 9 Pro XL, codenamed “komodo.” This variant is reported to include 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, though it’s unclear if this will be the standard configuration for all models.
The availability of both 128GB and 256GB options suggests that Google might offer higher memory configurations across the board, which would support their increasing focus on on-device AI, known for its memory-intensive demands.
In addition to the increased memory, the leak has also verified that the Pixel 9 Pro XL will indeed use the Exynos 5400 modem. This modem is identified in the device’s baseband section and replaces the Exynos 5300 found in the Pixel 8 series.
The Exynos 5400 is based on the 3GPP Release 17 standard, supporting maximum data speeds of 14.79Gbps and featuring satellite support, which is a key upgrade for the Pixel 9 series.
The Pixel 9 series is scheduled for its official launch on August 13, with Google having already released some official images of the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro Fold. This impending release has generated considerable anticipation, especially given the advancements and new features revealed through these leaks.
