Ford has initiated a recall of approximately 243,000 Maverick small pickup trucks in the United States due to potential issues with their tail lights.
According to the company, a computer malfunction may inaccurately detect excessive current flow in one or both of the tail lamps, causing them to remain unilluminated while the vehicles are in operation. This malfunction poses an increased risk of accidents.
The recall encompasses specific pickups manufactured between the model years 2022 and 2024.
Ford has emphasized that there have been no reported crashes or injuries linked to this issue. It assures owners that despite the tail light problem, headlights, turn signals, and brake lights will continue to function as expected.
Documents released on Wednesday by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration indicate that authorized dealers will perform software updates to rectify the issue at no expense to owners. Notification letters will commence mailing on May 20.
