The Mega Millions jackpot finally found a winner in Tuesday night’s drawing, which boasted an estimated prize of $1.13 billion after 30 consecutive drawings without a winner.
The winning numbers for Tuesday night’s draw were: 7, 11, 22, 29, 38, with the gold Mega Ball 4. Additionally, the Megaplier was 2X.
Alongside the jackpot, a total of 12 players were fortunate enough to match all five white balls, with one player each in California, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio, and two players each in Florida, Georgia, and New York, winning $1 million.
Furthermore, another player in New York matched all five white balls along with the Megaplier to secure a $3 million prize.
“Lottery fever continues to spread throughout the country,” stated Gretchen Corbin, President and CEO of the Georgia Lottery and lead director of the Mega Millions Consortium, prior to Tuesday’s drawing.
The $1.13 billion grand prize offers a one-time cash payout option of $537.5 million. Typically, winners opt for the cash prize over the Mega Millions annuity, which is paid out as one immediate payment followed by 29 annual installments.
Before Tuesday’s drawing, the Mega Millions jackpot had last been won on Dec. 8, when two winners in California matched all six numbers to claim the $395 million prize.
The record-breaking jackpot of $1.602 billion was previously won in Florida on Aug. 8, 2023, marking the largest lottery win ever on a single ticket worldwide.
The next drawing is scheduled for Friday, offering players the opportunity to vie for an estimated $20 million grand prize, with a cash option of $9.5 million.
Mega Millions is played in 45 states, as well as Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The deadline for purchasing a ticket is 9:45 p.m. on draw nights.
Drawings take place at 11 p.m. Eastern Time on Tuesdays and Fridays in Atlanta, Georgia.
