It appears that Nintendo is likely to release its highly anticipated Switch 2 game console this September, assuming there are no delays.
Although Nintendo has not made an official announcement yet, Altec Lansing inadvertently revealed the launch timeframe in a press release.
The release mentioned that the company is the first licensee of Ai Shark’s gaming software, which is scheduled to launch alongside Nintendo’s new console.
Ai Shark, though not widely recognized yet, is the rebranded name of GameShark, a well-known entity among long-time gamers.
GameShark devices, famous for adding extra lives and other enhancements to games, were popular for over a decade and across multiple gaming systems.
GameShark is now owned by MadCatz, which appears to be leveraging the Ai Shark brand for licensing purposes. This rebranding has led to the unexpected disclosure.
According to Altec Lansing’s original press release, “Formerly known as GameShark, Ai Shark is set to redefine the gaming landscape with its revolutionary AI-enhanced technology.
The innovative gaming software is expected to make a significant leap forward in gaming experience, offering enhanced gameplay for beginner users. The official launch is planned to coincide with the Nintendo Switch 2 in September 2024.”
However, a revised version of the announcement has replaced the reference to the Nintendo Switch 2 with a statement indicating that Altec Lansing plans to introduce its new offering in time for the holiday season of 2024.
This updated announcement does not mention September or Nintendo’s unconfirmed game console.
The original press release was archived by the Wayback Machine, suggesting that the initial information may have been prematurely disclosed.
It’s possible that Altec Lansing and Ai Shark either mixed up their messaging or retracted the information after realizing it was not yet intended for public release. The companies now portray the information as speculative rather than confirmed.
This misstep overshadows other potentially exciting developments, such as the Ai Shark Controller, which aims to learn a player’s input habits.
The controller uses AI to adapt to a gamer’s play style, suggesting button remaps and sensitivity adjustments to ease complex moves. For newcomers, it serves as an intuitive guide, while for experienced players, it evolves and refines itself to match their skill level.
Altec Lansing does not specifically mention a controller but states that Ai Shark’s software and chipset solutions can be applied to various gaming peripherals, including keyboards, mice, and headphones, and are platform-agnostic.
If the cached announcement proves accurate, the Switch 2 should be arriving in approximately 8-9 months.
