Twitch is discontinuing its Nintendo Switch app, as stated on the company’s support page.

The app will be removed from the Nintendo eShop on November 6th, and users who have already downloaded it will “lose access” on January 31st, 2024.

Twitch originally introduced its Switch app in late 2021, but it received some criticism from users. For instance, you can’t view a stream’s chat within the app, forcing you to use another device to see or join the conversation.

Additionally, the app doesn’t allow users to subscribe to creators for support, nor does it enable broadcasting your own gameplay.

“We recently made the difficult decision to remove the Twitch app from the Nintendo Switch,” Twitch’s Gabriella Raila said.

“Nintendo remains a valued partner, and we appreciate all the support the Switch community has provided to Twitch and our streamers.”
