A future Apple Watch is expected to revolutionize health monitoring for its users.
According to a new report, a forthcoming version of the popular Apple device could include features such as blood pressure monitoring and sleep apnea detection by 2024.
The anticipated blood pressure sensor will reportedly be able to detect when a wearer’s blood pressure has increased, although it won’t provide specific numerical readings.
Instead, the watch will prompt users to consult their doctor or check their blood pressure through other means. Apple is hopeful that a future version of the watch will be capable of delivering precise measurements.
The 2024 Apple Watch is also expected to monitor breathing and sleep patterns, with the capability to predict if a user may have sleep apnea—a condition characterized by repeated stops and starts in breathing during sleep.
If the watch detects a potential case of sleep apnea, it will advise the user to consult a doctor for further diagnosis.
In addition to the Apple Watch, it was also reported that Apple is aiming to transform its Vision Pro headset into a health device.
Apple is reportedly developing new features for the headset, such as “anti-anxiety” and “enhanced meditation” tools, which are slated to be part of the product’s release in early 2024.
The company envisions the product as a virtual reality system designed to “reinforce positive thinking and improve mental health.”
Furthermore, Apple plans to leverage the Vision Pro’s sensors to assess cognitive health by scanning the user’s eyes, according to the report.
