Children’s apparel retailer Carter’s has joined the BOPIS revolution (Buy Online and Pick up In-store). This program will enable Carter’s online customers to add products to their shopping cart, choose the “pick up today” option and have their order ready to be picked up in the selected store within 2 hours of purchase.
Carter’s has built this new custom-built mobile app with the help of its in-house development team to provide customers with a more efficient and easy shopping experience. This program aims to fulfill orders placed through the app or online at the customer’s selected store location at the time of checkout. Shoppers can take advantage of this program from both Carter’s stores, as well as their subsidiary – OshKosh B’gosh.
Utilizing store inventory allows orders to be fulfilled quickly as opposed to several days if it is ordered and shipped from Carter’s warehouse.
According to Greg Foglesong, Executive VP, North American retail & e-commerce at Carter’s – it is too soon to gauge any metrics because of its early stages of nationwide implementation. However, he did share a few insights such as – 20% of their online orders leverage the nationwide network of 800 stores. He also mentioned that consumers who ordered to pick-up their purchases in-store, bought additional items approximately 25% of the time.
This ambitious step shows Carter’s focus on providing its patrons with the best shopping experience in the children’s apparel space to become a “one-stop-shop” for families using technology and integrated services.
